Fort Wayne High School Hockey Association, Inc. (FWHSHA) is the governing body for 6 area High School Teams. High School Hockey is a non sanctioned club sport that is not supported by the schools. The Association abides by the rules and by-laws of the Indiana State High School Association and USA Hockey playing rules. Each team has a designated home school as listed below. The teams are independent teams registered with USA Hockey and are run by the Parents of the teams. The Association home arena is Lutheran Health Sports, a new $14 million 3 sheet facility located on the north side of Ft. Wayne.
The Association is guided and managed by a 14 voting member Board made up of local hockey minded volunteers from the community. Many of the members are non Parent members with a strong hockey background. The primary focus is on the student athlete environment. The Boards fundamental belief is in being guardians of the association for our players of today and tomorrow.
The League consists of 2 Midget Teams (U-18, & U-16) and 6 local high school city teams. as well as a JV/Reserve Team. The teams are formed in August with League play starting in late September or early October with city playoffs in March. League play is every Wednesday night with 350 – 500 fans in attendance with all 6 teams playing 3 games. On the weekends each team plans their own schedule playing various teams throughout the State. These games are called Crossover games and there are a minimum number of games each team must play to qualify for the State Tournament. High School Hockey is the premiere social and hockey event for high school players.
